Barbara (Joyce)'s Story

I've grown up since high school, the hard way. I didn't want to go to college, so I made a point of getting pregnant and getting married. (No one told me I'd have to marry the father.) Just because you're a teacher's daughter, doesn't make you smart. This led me to CA for a few years,as the husband was in the Navy. I bought a house down there and proceeded to fill it with animals and babies. Collies and little boys were my choice. I got fooled in '66 with a little girl. After three years there we moved back to Lewistown. Got a divorce shortly thereafter. Met a good-looking guy and married again. This three year stint brought two little girls. (One is a redhead.) Another divorce. Ran off with a guitar player from WY and joined his band. That led to a life in WY for years and playing in dance bands for twenty-five years, plus another boy. Divorced the musician and married a cowboy with four kids. One girl was burned very badly and the other one was out of her element. I found I had a knack with bolstering little egos and then I had seven. The two older boys were grown and married. They've been in and out of the home, too. So there are nine, plus...Expand for more
a few adopties along the way. Moved to MT in '80 and on to Winnett to the Thompson Bros. ranch in '83 where Mom was. Mike, my oldest brother (43), died a month after we got there and we stuck around for almost twenty years running the ranch. Loved it. The three old folks passed away and the kids grew up and left home and we got tired, so we sold and moved to Lewistown. I learned five years ago that I have something called "tourettes syndrome". That was why I made faces and noises all of my life. I'm on meds for it and now I feel much better. Not so much social anxiety, but still pretty much a loner. I learned to be kind and loving since '64. Got religion, which will shock the heck out of all of you. Not a fanatic, just a believer. Doesn't sound like much of a life, but there's more to it than I'm telling. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to visit about any topic. I noticed names of people on the list that I've always wanted to get to know. Now that we're all grown, it will be a real pleasure to visit with those who would care to. If you don't, I won't be hurt. To thine own self be true. We'll play Paul Harvey later. The best to all of you.
