Elizabeth's Story
After graduation, Joe Worley and I married (ran away to Rock Hill, SC). Then after he finished college, we moved to Hampton.
The Vietnam War was growing in intensity when we found out I was going to have Jennifer, thereby granting Joe a deferment from the draft.
In 1973 I discovered politics and became very involved in the Henry Howell for Governor campaign. Basically discovered my niche for political fundraising and organization. For the next twenty years I was involved either as a volunteer or as paid staff for various Democratic political endeavors. ond for four years and finally accepted a "real" job at Carver Presbyterian Church in 1980. Over the next 25 years, I worked in Churches as an Adm. Asst./Bookkeeper for Carver, First Presbyterian, First Baptist Jefferson Park and Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
In 2007 I was truly blessed to be offered a job in the Department of Psychiatry at MCV (VCU it's called now). Very, very happy working here.
I have one granddaughter, Elizabeth Michaela, age 11, who, along with Mom Jennifer and Dad Bill, live in Buena Vista.
Sister Martha still lives in Hampton and Bo and Bill live near Mom's house in the country in Rockbridge. Mom died of Alzheimer's in 1997 and Honey died several years ago.
