Kathryn's Story
Well - after leaving Germany in 1983, we ended up in Fort Leavenworth (more specifically, Lansing), KS, where I graduated high school, and moved on to KU for about 2 1/2 years. Anyone who has been to Lawrence, KS, specifically on Mass. Street, will understand that my straight-laced lack of experience was my downfall. I had a little too much fun and ending up leaving KU shortly before they probably would have asked me to. I spent about 3 months in Alaska with my folks before moving back down south to be with who would eventually become my husband.
After 2 more years in the "real world" my father had always warned me about, I went back to UMKC, got my BA in English, MA in Literature, and eventually started teaching College freshmen Composition and Literature.

nce that time, I have had two sons - Logan and Connor - and started working on an MS in Educational Technology. I still teach College Composition, and I spend what free time I have reading and chasing boys around. My husband is now a full-time student as well, after years as a restaurant/bar manager, so I guess we are kind of a family of academics, albeit not your typical one.
My youngest, Connor, was born with Prader-Willi Syndrome, so I spend quite a bit of time reading up on that, and trying to find ways to make his (and our) lives a little easier. (BTW - Anybody knowing anyone with this syndrome and looking for a new support network, I've seriously considered starting one myself - get in touch!)
