Nicole's Story
So far life is pretty good. I can't complain. :) After high school I went away to college at San Diego State University. Did the whole generic college things..sorority, dorms, parties. It was alot of fun. However, I was never going to graduate if I had to walk past a bar and the Betas playing shirtless volleyball every day. So, I headed off to Austin, Texas. It's very hot and sticky there, if anyone asks. It's a great town, but UT Austin is huge and it's hard to get classes, so after taking 1 class (which wasn't in my major nor did it transfer) I left back for West Covina. My older sister Charlene (Class of '90) was married and living in San Francisco at the time, so that was next. It's very cold there, if anyone asks. And since I couldn't afford to live in the city, I lived in the east bay...in the GHETTO. I took my life in my hands every time I would leave my loft for the Bart station. And to get to school was ATLEAST a 45 minute trip, and thats only if the Bart was on time. However, I did have 2 great jobs. I worked as a wine steward on a boat called "The Californian" and as a roulette dealer on another boat called the "Monte Carlo". I was horrible at both. Spilled red wine on a white silk coat, and flung a roulette ball across a crowded room, and apparently I get sea sick as well. So it was back to West Covina, well actually Long Beach. It'd beautiful there, if anyone asks. It was nice to be back home, or close to it. While going to school and working for the Catalina ferry, I met my first husband. Yes, I said first. And in 2001 he was recruted by the Arizona Cardinals. So off we were to Phoenix. It's very very hot here too but les...Expand for more
s sticky, if anyone asks. Not long after we got here I decided to go to beauty school. I graduated and worked as an assistant. My ex and I also divorced at that time. I was 23. Too young to be married and thankfull we both realized that, and are still very good friends to this day. How many people can say that? So I made it on my own for a long time. I loved being single. I worked as a stylist in some very posh Scottsdale salons for a long time. I was also the fashion editor for a local magazine. I was also under contract with a few other magazines as a stylist for photo spreads, media, and fashion shows. Made quite a name for myself in a small media market. One day I was asked to be a bachlorette in a charity auction. At that event, a date with me was auctioned off for $250 to a Canadian man I didn't even know....3 1/2 years later I married him. In that time we've built our home together, and remodeled it..been back and forth to Canada, took on 2 little wiener dog puppied (Stewie and CeCe), spent 3 months in Europe, were married in Napa Valley on March 25th 2008, and have started businesses. I own a hair salon in North Scottsdale and he owns a Commercial Real Estate Brokerage.
So thats me, in the past 13 years. Wow, has it really been that long?? Now I feel old. I'm almost 32. When I was in high school I thought 32 was dead. Like everyone else, I am on myspace. Look me up. It's been great getting back in touch with people through there. I love hearing everyone elses stories. No one is where you thought they would be, and i'm sure its not where they thought either. So get in touch. I hope all is well with you. Best wishes, Nicole
