Amanda's Story
I hope people remember me with a smile on my face because I still have such a passion for life. Even though life has thrown me some curves, I now find myself in a place that I always wanted to be.....happily married with two children. I completed my BSE in Elementary Education at ASU, my master's in ICL/IDT from University of Memphis, and taught for 13 years before deciding to stay home with my two boys. I was also able to do a some traveling and teach professional development courses as a math/technology coordinator before I had Brandon and Alex.
I have found that asking myself what I want to be or do every five years or so helps me line out a set of goals to accomplish and enjoy rather than staying in an unsatisfying rut. Being the strate...Expand for more
gic planner (control freak) that I am, my hardest lesson was/is that I can't force people to meet my personal deadlines and forcing that issue is what got me so far off track in the first place. Now, I feel like God has given me that second chance to enjoy the happiness that I always wanted if I just submit and let Him guide my path.
I am very active in my church and love being a mom. Just being with my boys brings me more joy that I ever imagined.
In the next five years, I want to stay home until they go to school. Then I want to go back to work and get my National Board Certification. I simply can't imagine being connected to education and learning in some fashion. After that, I'll have to see what the next five future years hold.
