Long Story Short:
High School Daze....
Liberia. My friends, whom I'm still in contact with and enjoy every minute of our time: David S, Charles W, Sam R, Barbara D, Neil W., Todd K. [ too many to mention!]
Gem State. What can I say. Lived there for 3 years pretty much. My friends from there are a constant in my thoughts and life. Even when we're not in touch - we're in touch. Doug Roe, Lori N, Joe D, Kevin M, Mark S, Cindy W. Others!!
After high school (Liberia and Idaho) I went to Walla Walla College for about 1.5 years. Life Long Friends: Peter Adkison, Ken McGlothlen, Donald Smith. Carl Bartlett - been too long, huh? CJ - you're still The Man. Belinda - I hope your life has been Great - I've peeked in from time to time - it seems so. Was saddened by the loss of your parents.
Terry C - you're my oldest friend (Note: friend I've had the longest. Not oldest in age. He's very sensitive about this sort of thing), never far from my thoughts and always there in my heart. Looking forward to every visit. Thank you!
Had to drop out of WWC due to finances (lack thereof - private College) and I moved to Seattle and lived with my Dad (Verlin) and step-Mom (Donna).
Classes at North Seattle Community College - Data Processing, math, and Whatever. Worked at Treats on Capitol Hill (Memories - Hanging with Maria Foss & Crew - good times). Spent many hours on campus hanging with Teresa Russell, Leda Goncheroff, and other good people.
Met Dianne while working in Alaska for the summer. Got married in '84 & moved to Anchorage. Worked 4 years at Nat'l Bank of Alaska. (Judy C & Eric, Lisa W, Judy P - others!)
Jonathan was born in June '87 and we moved to Co Springs in '88. I went back to school and worked on a degree in Math, Chem, & Physics. Got divorced in 1990. Here - I met other Great Friends. John Sideris, Al Dipentino, Steve Yashur, Alex Weinert, Bridget McGrath. Brother from another Mother - Martshal (wow). Little Sister - Catherine H. Jennifer Swain.
Met Andrea at the University - James was born in 1993. Good and tough times. We separated in 1998. (Still good friends.) Sons (step) Donald & Matt - love you guys!

r science degree in early 90's and started the new career. Started a business with Steve Y and Alex W - we ran it for 1.5 years and sold it for real money. (*whew*) Went back to being just a software engineer (running a company is too much work!)
Met another Best Friend - Greg Steidinger. Camping, climbing, biking, hiking, pool, dinners, dancing, motorcycles, figuring out the Universe - again and again.
Met XiaoWen in New Zealand in 2004 on a company (Seagate) event. We got married in fall of 2006. She is intelligent, talented, beautiful, and so much more! We reside in Colorado Springs and enjoy traveling, gardening, hiking, biking, motorcycling, rock climbing, movies, reading, and spending time with the Boys and our good friends.
I enjoy being active. I run 3 X a week, lift weights, train in martial arts, rock climb, mtn bike, hike, snow shoe, ski.... Colorado is a great place to be active in!
I continue to read Sci-Fi and Fantasy as my main genres. I do enjoy good historical fiction. I continue to expand my knowledge in science and philosophy. Love movies. How 'bout that LotR?
I am, shall we say, religiously unaffiliated. (I don't mean unaffiliated with a brand of Christianity - I mean any religion.) Except, perhaps, with the FSM. You'll have to research that on your own. ;-)
To my friends - you know who you are - thank you for being a part of my life. You make it better every day. For those I've lost track of - I'm sorry - get in touch!
To my family. Not enough words to say what you mean to me. Randy, Dad D, Mom D & Dad V, Mike (yes - I still mourn your loss) & Kim. Cousins! Auntie B. Andrea, Don, Matt, Jonathan, & James. Did I mention Randy? He's my big brother - saved my life a thousand times. WXW - my heart, wo de peng you, wo de ai ren, wo de gong zhu.
So you see - I don't really view my life from what is is I do, or my career, or what I "have." Rather - I view my life through the lens of relationships - past & present. It is the people in my life that are important to me (even if it seems I don't stay in contact).
That's it off the top of my head. I'm sure I'll want to re-write this - and never have the time....
