Ernest's Story
After HS graduation entered the Naval Academy, graduating in 1958. Then served on a destroyer and a cruiser in the Pacific Fleet. Married high school classmate Corrine Rohrbough in 1960 and lived in Pacific Beach, CA. We moved to New London Conn. that year to start Submarine Officers school. In 1961 we moved to Norfolk VA and I served on an Atlantic Fleet diesel submarine. ions Officer at the Navy Navigation Satellite System Headquarters. In 1970 I left active duty but stayed in the Navy Reserve till 1982 during which time I commanded two Navy Reserve units. We lived in Camarillo, CA raising 3 sons and I taught middle school math for 27 years. After retirement in 1997 became active in the Optimist Club. In 2006 we moved to Chandler, AZ to be near 2 sons and their families. We now enjoy grandparenting 4 little boys. I am also active in the Gilbert Optimist Club. Life is truly a blessing!
