Barbara's Story
It's now May 2009. I have been doing a lot of traveling - US and Mexico. Now looking to settle down and spend time with friends here with shorter trips to the US.
Right now I am setting up a sitting area in the garden and adding more fruit trees and flowers. Our rainy season starts in about 2 wks. so what I plant now will take off like weeds once the rains come. As I have pleanty of land to plant I have some interesting gardens - 2 rose gardens, 2 cactus gardens, 10 fruit trees, various flowers. I have been working on a rather large garden center with a magnolia tree. Eventually it will have a flagstone center around the tree and in this area will be a wrought iron sitting set. around the edge are many different lilies. Gardening takes a lot of my early morning time - but to be outside all year in the am is wonderful.
Ken and I moved to Jocotepec (Lake Chapala), Mexico in 2003. The picture was taken 2007 (our 40th Ann.) in Patsquaro, Mexico. Ken passed away just a few months later. I love...Expand for more
living the much slower, quiet life here. I am learning Spanish and have a wonderful family we meshed into to make a Mexican/American family. We did so much with them and since I am now alone they truly take care of me. I have dinner with them at least once a week and then finish off the time with a good game of dominoes. Our girls visit as often as possible as they also love the area we are in. The fracc. is called Las Fuentes. We are a group of 48 homes, mostly Americans and Canadians.
I travel to NJ/NY several times a year. Karen lives in Brooklyn and Barbara in Flanders. I love visiting with my 3 grandsons (15, 10, 8 yrs. old).
I fell in love with Mexico in 1992 when we vacationed in Tulum. After that we were vacationing every other year in Mexico. Finding a place with perfect weather year round and wonderful "transplants" who come from all over (actually the world) was such a bonus.
My life is full, exciting and serene. I couldn't ask for anything better. I have truly been blessed.
