Stephanie's Story

Well, I guess, to begin with, I live in Alexandria, Ontario. It's on the border of Ontario and Quebec. I have two grown girls. Jessica is 44 years old and Brandy is 41 years old. Brandy is married and has one daughter, Piper,. I married twice and both of them were named Rick. I used to work on computers in Ottawa and Alexandria. I'm retired out of necessity that was my biggest surprise. LUPUS! The second surprise, I actually had to look it up on the computer to find out what that was. To be truly happy I think that I would be living on the ocean eating lobster! I hope that my old friends remember me intelligent and healthy. When you say that life didn't exactly turn out the way you expected I would be the poster girl for that statement but at least I can't say that I try to live life the best anyone can in my position and try not to feel sorry for myself. I'm not writing this to get pity but more to get people to understand that not everyone's life turned out great but to be honest about how people's lives can turn out just the opposite. I'm still alive and kicking no matter how much life tries to keep me down. So if you find yourself in this position kick it back as hard as you can. Good luck!!! I always wanted to be a career woman when I grew up. I also just wanted to be happy in whatever I decided was right for me or just happy period. I am exactly that now. I have been writing a book for my granddaughter, Piper so that she knows the Austrian side of her family and about all the crazy things I have seen and done. My family and friends thought that was a stupid idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. My family wanted me to get married and have children. Well, I divorced my first husband because he was going through the I WANT A 16-YEAR-OLD AGAIN. Then I remarried a guy 5 years younger than me and nearly went through that again when he turned 40. That was really stupid of me because you would think that I would have learned the first time but he convinced me that after being a bachelor for 34 years he had sown his wild oats already. NOT!!!! All I ever wanted to do was to be free to be me without ALL the STRESS. I blow off steam by cooking new recipes and walking the dog and reading and helping people who need help. it gets my mind off me. That is also how I relax because your body and mind relax when you are thinking ...Expand for more
about something besides yourself. The wildest thing I ever did in school was when we had the SITIN to get the rules changed from uniforms and dresses or skirts to pants or clean jeans. The reason I did it was because one day I went to school in pants because I didn't have time to clean my skirt because my Mother was sick and I got in trouble for it. I said to the Dean that not everyone has a normal family life and I had to take care of these kinds of things myself. He was doing to give me a detention. I told him that I wouldn't take it because I didn't have time to be treated like a child unless he wanted to go over to my house and get my work done for me there. I went to the SITIN for these reasons. We don't all have time to be our age. He never bothered me again about these kinds of things. I have lived in Montreal, Chambly, Beloeil, Ville Lasalle, Ottawa, Rouyon-Noranda, Brockville, Smithsfalls, Kempville, Lancaster and Alexandria and Dalkeith. I owned a hobby farm in Dalkeith. I went to College in Brockville. I owned a used car lot in Smithsfalls and Kemptville. I was born in Ottawa and moved to Noranda as a child. The family moved to Beloeil when my Father was transferred there during the FLQ times. His office was blown to bits in Noranda so we had to leave. Then he found us a big enough house in Chambly. I lived with my first husband in Chambly for many years. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Linda Pare because she helped me make the transition from hillbilly to a city girl. I didn't even speak the language properly because Noranda's English and French were completely different. I didn't know what most of the food was either. I didn't know how to dress like a girl or act like one either. We grew up in the bush most of the time. We lived on Lake Fortune while we lived in Noranda too. We wore uniforms because up North we were taught by nuns, priests and missionaries. Linda kept me out of trouble by telling me when some guy was after me when I didn't know it. She told me almost everything I needed to know for my age. I am very grateful to her. Now, I am a writer. I am happy. I still live in Alexandria but I choose to live alone. I found a way to stop Lupus from attacking without medication. I walk all the time and listen to music. I also corrected all my writing errors on this page!!!
