Dr Dorothy's Story

I have spent most of my life on hold to help family members or friends. I was in the US Army twice. Served as a Surgical Technician and a Field Artillery Surveyor. The only dream I managed to pursue was education. Graduated WVC with two Associate Degrees (Psychology & Life Sciences and Communications) six months before turning 40 while working 3 jobs and raising the 2 youngest of my 4 boys. There are several years between them. Never gave up my education dream but changed the course it went in and finally finished my degrees in my mid 50's with a BA in Religious Education, MA in Religious Family Counseling & PhD in Metaphysics and became an ordained Minister instead of a Medical doctor. There is more than one avenue for healing. I did a lot of schools in between there for other things such as technical certificates for factory work, bookkeeping/accounting and prelim religious studies and a lot of holistic healing studies while working and being a single parent. I have lived all around the US from east to west coast and great lakes to gulf of Mexico but Wyoming is probably the worse place in the US to live. I was also homeless for 3 years living on the streets with two small boys in AZ and it was probably the most enlightening period of my life. I spent 9 years in a remote area on the Navajo Reservation. I have lived a number of years in remote locations without running water, electricity or phone service or other conveniences such as indoor bathroom facilities and have used both oil lamps and solar/wind power. Suprisingly there are many areas of the US where people live in such extreme poverty, no employment, with poor sanitation, substandard housing, little food and no medical care it is like those 3rd world countries in the news except it never makes the news. I have spent many years rescuing and fostering abused or abandoned pets, providing vaccinations and adopting the misfits myself while finding homes for others. I have never become rich or famous or even lived above the level of poverty as far a...Expand for more
s income but I have had a wealth of life experience in helping others in the US that most people are not even aware exist in such deplorable conditions in the supposedly best and richest country in the world because they are forgotten or unheard of. I used to do a lot of poetry writing and won numerous awards for it but do not do it much any more. I have 7 grandchildren and 3 great nephews some of which I have only met one time. I have battled various cancers since the early 1980's. I currently live on a 70 acre ranch in very remote rural Wyoming which is a winter area for a disappearing species of jack rabbit I am trying to protect from extinction but hope to be moved before the winter comes again as it is getting wearisome being snowed in up to 165 days a year when you run out of water, food and firewood and have to walk 7 miles out (14 round trip) in 6 feet of snow, winds over 60mph and wind chills to 60 below to get your mail. Winter here is usually Sept. to May but we can have snow as late as June into Aug. Been here 6 years and would like to move to a warmer area and have trees (none here) and a flower and vegetable garden. Finally have grass here now but it was a long struggle to get it going. I gave up on trees. I was just hoping to reconnect with some old friends by email or snail mail. Since I am in the process of moving contacting me would be better by US postal mail or by phone since my computer will be down during the move and relocation. My mail will move with me and cell phone will also be available. (307)220-8869 or 65 Orenda Acres, Medicine Bow, WY 82329 currently. I will keep the mailing address updated and the phone number is the same. You can also reach me by text on Skype at medicinewoman46. I will be able to do Skype to Skype calls or Yahoo to Yahoo calls again when the computer is up and I replace the broken headset and I will update this when that is available again. I have more than one hero. My grandfather Jesse Kamp, Helen Lach & Xena would be the top three heroes for me.
