Sandra's Story
I am having an absolute blast at 44 years old! Who'da'thunk it? I have 5 fabulous children, ages 27,23,21,21 and 13, an amazing husband and a life made from my wildest dreams.
I have never lived far away from water and have developed my love for the water, and the abilities to manuever resourcefully on the water over the years. 2 years ago we sold our 4000 sq ft, 105 year old, beautifully restored Victorian home and bought a motor yacht. We also sold everything in the house that the kids couldn't cart away! We now live on that boat and are having the time of our lives. It is far more fun than we could have ever dreamed.
If you ever have the slightest fancy to head to the sea...write me! After a medical scare, I evaluated my life's priorities and came up with this grand idea of getting rid of the excess "crap" I've been collecting along with the antiques that required maintenance and downsizing -- drastically. It was all my idea, and when presented to my VERY SHOCKED husband, he offered me a reluctant timeline of 5 years (probably thinking I'd gone temporarily insane and would recover within that time). After considering the thought day and night, and I do mean night as he could not sleep for several weeks, he found us the perfect boat. Do not wait! JUST DO IT! Children? Pets? Still working? JUST DO IT! Alot of "stuff"? Wri...Expand for more
te me. I'll tell you how to get rid of it. I do not miss the "stuff" that stuffed our 4,000 square foot home...and believe me, I was a collector of completely useless, pretty items.
Aside from that, what have I been up to? What haven't I been up to!
My FAVORITE occupation was being an Endurance Test Boat Driver, 3 years for Volvo Penta. I drove boats year round in the Chesapeake Bay area testing engines and drive units for endurance. Yes! I was actually paid to tear up boats! Yee Haw! My favorite achievement has been earning my USCG licensed Captain 50-ton Masters, I worked VERY hard for this title! Also, I am or have been a wild Beatles fan, bookkeeper, professional student, hospital administrator, property manager, antique jewelry collector, old house renovator, world traveler, marina manager, boat owner.
As an added bonus of my husband's occupation, we travel frequently to Paris, Liverpool, Ireland, NYC, Puerto Rico and anywhere else we care to go. Of course, he can't keep me out of Paris and my next dream is to live there for at least a few years, in the next 10 years.
My favorite roles are wife to my beloved husband and mother to our children, 3 his, 2 mine. I just love my family! My husband and I have concluded that of all of our friends and acquaintances, our kids are the most fun to be around! They "champ" COOL
