Janie's Story
It took me thirty years, but I managed to graduate from college as recently as this past December. I have a degree in Special Education and cannot wait to get started. I have worked in the Lauderdale County school system for 5 1/2 years. Four of those years were spent in the elementary - special education. I have worked the remainder of this time in the high school as a Distance Learning Facilitator. I suppose with two aunts and an uncle in education it is no surprise I landed there as well. a watercolor class which was very satisfying it not commical! I quickly discovered I am not a threat to Monet.
After I graduated from Carbon Hill I went to work at Arrow Shirt Factory as a payroll clerk. Five years later I married Phillip Darby and we moved to Louisiana. We eventually moved back to Florence and had two children. Emily is 20 and attends UNA. She is a majorette in the band and loves it. Thomas is my 15 year old son who is into anything sports related.
I am hoping the class of '79 will have a reunion soon. It has been thirty years. WOW!
