Joyce's Story
My husband and I sold our business 15 years ago and we were blessed to be able to retire and move to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. I met my husband, Rick, when I was 15 and he was 17, while he was on vacation in the Beaulah area with his family. We have 5 children, 2 mine and 3 his, and we have been married for 25 awesome years. I went to Brandywine High School for three years. My best friends, Nadine (Hagood) Rutledge and Diane (Scarberry) Keihn are still in touch today. I am also still in touch with my best friend from Benzie Central, Jerri Lea (Burke) Crouch. My Q & A's tell a lot about me.
I look forward to e-mails from ones who would like to write.
Update:
Just celebrated our twenty-fifth anniversary in Gatlingberg Tenn. Two other graduates from Benzie Central, Dr. Brent Egan (My nephew), 1972 and his beautiful wife Debbie, 1974, were there. It was a wonderful time. My husband and friend are headed for Colorado next month. Rick and I are going to England and Scotland in September for two weeks. This should be a riot. Rick has drove on the Virgin Islands (Saint Croix) and therefore has ...Expand for more
drove on the left side of the rode. But on this trip he will also have to sit on the right side. Whew! Glad we are flying into Manchester and not London. I have traveled most of Europe but Rick has never wanted to travel except in the US and Canada. Finally he agreed to visit English speaking countries. I couldn't get those reservations fast enough. I have often invited him to romantic weekends in Paris but he has always declined. Now? Who knows. I would not want him to drive in Paris. They just drive in circles and blow there horns. I mean all the time, with twenty horns at a time. Well I am going on so bye. Fondly, Joyce
Here is a childhood memory I will never forget. My little friend, Ester, was a Methodist and I was a Catholic. Catholic children were taught that everyone who was not Catholic was going to Hell. This concerned me greatly so I told Ester she had to become a Catholic or go to Hell. Well, her father was a Methodist minister and also a teacher in the Thompsonville school. You can only guess at the kind of trouble I was in! I will only say that I do not believe in Hell for anyone.
