Janet's Story
After graduating from Oakhaven, I attended Memphis State University where I majored in journalism and minored in psychology and sociology. I was active in the University Center Program Board, which planned student activities. I was chairperson of the Films Committee for two years. During that time, I taught a Regional Leadership Conference. defeated by 3 votes and 2 abstentions), two men came down from the gallery to congratulate me on the "best written bill we've yet seen at TISL". One of them was then Senator Al Gore, the other was then future Tennessee Governor, Ned McWhirter. I was also an activist for women's rights (even though I'm pro-life), and was largely responsible for abolishing the curfew in women's dorms. I have always been fiercely independent, opinionated, outspoken and honest. I've had some incredible jobs....will finsih later...
