Mary's Story
After graduation I went to work for American Express in a clerical position. Married my boyfriend of 5 years in October 1965. Started a family in 1966-my first son, followed by a daughter, my one & only, in 1970. Returned to work as a receptionist for a podiatrist in 1976 when both of my children were in school. Then in 1977 moved to Delaware, an opportunity to raise our children in a better environment. In December our third child was born, another son-a suprise gift from God. Spent the next seven years raising and nurturing my family.
In 1984 I began a career in the health field as a nursing assistant which I continued to do until I retired in 2005.
In 1991 we divorced-I moved to a neighboring town, Harrington. Then after two years another move-to Milford, a town closer to where I worked.
In 1996 I decided to make a fresh start in life and I moved to Port Richey, Florida.....then in 1997 moved across state to Palm Coast, Florida. Loved it there but the next year (1998) my daughter started a new marriage and was adding to our family. I then decided to move back to Delaware so that I could know my grandchildren and they could know me. In 1998 my youngest son married and in 1999 my next grandson was born, fol...Expand for more
lowed in 2002 by another grandson.
In 2000 I married my second husband, a wonderful man who was older than I by 19 years. Unfortuneatly our happiness did not last long enough and when he took ill and passed away in 2006.
Backing up three years. in 2003 my daughter gave me another grandson. So I now have 5 wonderful grandchildren-one granddaughter and four grandsons. After being widowed three years now I am now ready to jump back in and start living and enjoying life again.
Which brings me to the present. I would like to re-connect with some of my friends from high school and that is why I finally chose to join Classmates.com. As far as I know there has never been a class of 1964 reunion of Wm. H. Maxwell V.H.S. I am open to attending one should anyone living there want to make a plan to have one. I don't know the first thing about how to do this but if someone needed my help I would be more than happy to help any way that I'm able to.
Well, that's been my life to date. Not particularly adventurous but fulfilling just the same.
I always wanted to be a great dancer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a foolish idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
I blow off steam and relax.....when I dance!
