Jim's Story
Have lived in Colemna, Tx, for 51 plus years.
Am married to Linda Rhea; have 3 children, Cathy,
46, Jim B. III, 45, and Joe, 40, who died 10 years ago
of a staph infection in a hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.
Have 5 grandkids, ages from 13 to 23. Have 1 great grand-
daughter as of Jan, 2015.
Have owned and operated a retail pharmacy for the
last 50 years. Purchased Cross Pharmacy 50 years
ago in Coleman, and after 10 years purchased Owl
Drug Store in Coleman; merged the 2 stores into a
really top pharmacy. Linda and I are both pharmacists, both graduating from UT in 1962. On
first date, I asked Linda how she spelled her middle
name, Rhea; her answer was that it was the last 4
letters of "diarrhea"! Also, on same night, as usual,
I was trying to be a "stud", and purchased a huge
cigar at counter in resturant; sat down and lit it; I was
not a smoker. Linda got up and went back to same
counter and purchased the identical cigar and started
smoking it. Same night, I took her home to her dorm, and she asked to see my "muscle"! I flexed up
right arm at front door of dorm, and she felt my head! Couldn't get to my car fast enough..remember,
1958 Golden Adventurer DeSota.
Just remodeled our pharmacy inside and out, and plan on another 20-25 years!.
I love my patients, customers, employees, and the
job, and just can't seem to get out. Our fountain is one of three left in the state of Texas...Expand for more
that originally opened as a full service fountain; we
can seat approximately 50 people, and can really crowd
in 60! We serve every fountain drink you could get
in the 40's, 50's, and 60's! Our Owlburger was just judged
as the 7TH best hamburder in the world.
Built a bunch of hotrods in the last 46 years, ride a
Fatboy that is flamed out, and am currently rebuilding a 1975
MB SL 450 convertible, V-8, FI. Red of course.
Still go to church and still believe in what Bro. Snow
taught me; help teach a 5th & 6th grade Sunday school class.
Love guns, mainly revolvers and automatics, and am
a .41 and .44 mag/special fan. Love all 9 mm's. Carry a BullDog Pup everyday I am in store. If you're reading this, then you have the time to give
me a call or email. Really.

PS: Had very unsuccessful, complete right knee replacement on May 15th, 2010; have not worked in 5
years. My daughter, Cathy, is running the whole show now and is the best store manager I have ever
know. I go down almost daily and eat at the fountain, and talk to my pharmacy crew. I still do a few
very complicated compounds. I miss seeing and talking to my patients on a day to day basis. There is a
surgical process that would correct my knee problem but the MD that does this at Scott and White in Temple,
talked me out of it. Cathy is now trying to get me in with an MD
in Ft. Worth. to correct my hip and back.
