Roy 's Story

Well its hard to believe that it has been nearly 20 years since I graduated from Litchfield High School. After I graduated I went back to working on construction (destruction if you rather) working with explosives and leveling areas of Connecticut for housing, shopping malls and new roads to be built. I did not stay doing that for long when I started running a comic book shop in Litchfield. It was fun while it lasted but unfortunately the economy hit rock bottom and the business was closed. At 21, I picked up and moved to the Dallas Area, roughly 1700 miles away. I wanted to go into film (movie & tv) production I was going to go to school here in Dallas and eventually work here where there was a lot of activity at the time for movies being filmed. Unfortunately, that never panned out and I went to work for a former fortune 500 travel/incentive company where I handled different incentive accounts like Dr. Pepper under the cap program, and Caterpillar spin and win promotion. I spent a couple of years doing this until I left. At the time, I lived with my Sister Melissa and she at that point had just bought a house in a northern Dallas suberb. Since I left the travel company I decided that I would move back to Connecticut. Though after my sister bought her fixer upper home, I promised I would stay and help her fix it for a few months before I moved back. At the point, I decided to get a job a Target just doing overnight stocking to support me while I was still here. Well long story short, I met someone and moved in with her and we lived together for a few years. We were going to get married until I found out some things that weren't quite right. I left and moved back in with sis and then went through a string of meeting girls and living with a few. I kept going back and forth with this for a few years. Meanwhile, I was still working at Target and was asked would I like to promote. I thought sure if I'm gonna stay here I might as well move up with in the company. I am now a retail executive for Target and am going on 15 years with them. In late 2001, I had started going with someone who was also at Target. ...Expand for more
Her and I lived in a couple of different appartments in Plano Texas and eventually had a home built for us in a new suberb north of where my sis lives near Allen. We stayed there two years when I decided to build a bigger house exactly 80 foot steps from my current house. This house would be my "leisure palace" It was beautiful complete with two storys, huge game room, theatre room ,arcade, swimming pool, hot tub, and enough rooms to house all of my toys. Oh and comics. By the time I was ready to move to Texas I had amassed over 600,000 comic books. This had nothing to do with the comic shop, this was my personal collection only. I have since sold these with the coming of ebay and only have movie memrobilia now. Well getting back to my house, I moved in in February 2007 and by September 2007, I had lost it due to my partner cheating on me. She wanted to reconcile but it was not to be. When I moved on neither of us could afford to live there without the other so we sold it. I then moved into an apartment in Mckinney and started over. This is when I found the love of my life, right under my nose in fact. I have worked with her for over 5 years but never gave her a second thought until I left the store and she sought me out. We corted for awhile then were apart and then on Christmas Eve in 2007 we were back. I married the love of my life, Liz on May 2, 2008 and have been the happiest I have ever been. Today Liz and I enjoy each others company along with our babies Lucy, Trixie, and newcomer Lola. High school for me was a very special time. I remember when the so called magnificient seven used to sit outside the library on the hall benches and hang out. I miss the time I spent with Kevin, Kyle, Ethan, Matt, Mike, and Pat. And of course, as true today as when I wrote it in my yearbook, "Keith, we will never forget you." Oh and by the way, I have gone by the name of Chuck now since before 1990. In fact most everyone here in Texas or even back home knows me only as Chuck and have no idea that my name is actually Roy. My sister gave me that nickname a long time ago and it has been with me ever since.
