Diane's Story

I have been married for 28 years and we have raised 5 children. Our oldest is 27 and our youngest is 17. My life has been busy to say the least but a good busy. I had in-home daycare for 25 years and I loved it. After my youngest started High school I went to work for a Nanny Agency in the city and had the pleasure of meeting some amazing people. I worked with newborns mostly and most were multiples (ie. twins and triplets) I did that for three years. I was away from home alot and I decided I needed something closer . I am now working at our local grade school and I love it. My husband and I enjoyed coaching our kids sports teams. He with baseball and I worked with the girls in softball. Our summers were pretty much spent at the park and we would not change a thing. I always had a dream of coaching basketball and ten years ago it came true. It started with one 5th grade girls team and before I knew it I was also coaching a 6th grade team and co-coaching a 7th grade team. The girls were amazing! I loved it more than I loved playing at Belle. Each year our school enrollment increased and we now have 8 teams in 5th-8th grade!! I am back with a 5th grade girls team and I will be co-coaching our 6th and 7th grade girls this year. I am also the basketball director for our Athletic Association and that is very time consuming. My kids are for the most part grown. Our son Jim is with in 20 miles, our daughter Tina is working in West Virginia, Tracy our middle daughter is getting married this month, Michelle is already married and they have a little girl(my first grand baby!)and last but not least is Jeff, he is a senior and has big plans after graduating...... We'll see. Guess its questionaire time so here goes... My first job was at Kingsford, where I got paid 5.10 per hr to dump breakage. W...Expand for more
hat I remember most about it is I'd be black from head to toe. I always wanted to be a basketball coach when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right! If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the basement and add on a HUGE family room. My dream home would be paid for!!! If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to church, then spend the rest on my kids, my family and my self. My current age is 48. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be rich. I was so completely wrong. I share my home with my husband Jim my son Jeff and two great danes. They belong to my daughter and when she gets married they are going to her house!!! The basketball teams I've coached over years have played in many tournaments and have won some 1st place trophies and 3rd place trophies, but the Sportsmanship Awards are the ones I am most proud of. Kids are amazing!!!! If I need to blow off steam I usually take a walk. If the weather is bad I'll go for a drive. I also vent to my friends. I enjoy listening to music to relax. Sitting on our patio watching the sun set is another one of my favorite ways to relax. I remember when I would snitch a cig from my mom's pack and bring it to school we would go to the restroom and pile in a stall. One time we (three) we in the end stall and my sister was the the one to our right. She left and we didn't know it because we were laughing and acting silly and I passed it under the stall to who I thought was my sis and it was Mrs. Sassman. She scared the heck out of us and we all bolted before she could get her pants up!!! Ah...memories We live in Washington Mo, and have for 20 years. My husband works in the city and the drive to and from work when we lived in Belle was just to much. We made the right choice.
