Bonnie's Story

Life after Mankato High has been non-traditional, to say the least. Did some travelling after graduation, spent a couple years in Minneapolis as the wild hippie child, then married and had my baby girl (now 35). I was usually self-employed...Vivian Woodard Cosmetics, Bee Line Fashions, UnderCover Wear, to name a few. I spent a couple years in Sioux Falls, then oved back to Minneapolis for a short stint (newly divorced). That's when I hooked up with my high school sweetheart. To make a long sotry short, we eveutually married and he recruited me into his country rock band doing keyboards and vocals. The band went on the road covering 10 states and Canada. The road isn't all it's cracked up to be! All that "good life" took it's toll on my marriage, and we parted ways after about 12 years. At that point I became a confirmed bachlorette. That's when decided to head off to college. I attended Mankato State - got my bachelors degree in psych, got accepted at UNI for grad studies...but my world somehoe fell apart. I never did make it to graduate school, but that was ok. All through my adult life I was a student of metaphysics and diverse spiritual paths and natural/alternative health. I would have had a difficult time putting labels on people and encouraging them to take pills to make it all better. During my college years I connected with a woman who make custom leather halters, dancer costumes, etc. She taught me the trade and took me on the road with her doing major motorcycle rallies all across the US. ege more of a challenge, but managed to graduate cum laude (defying many people's wagers). I eventually had my own custom leather business along with a retail "hippie shop". That whole thing eventually turned into an alternative healing and metaphysical studies center. These things have a life of their own, ya know! I became certified in several healing modalities, also went to massage school. In 1993 I was running the leather booth at the Sturgis Bike Rally...and met my current husband. I swore I would never do it again, but three years later we got married. Never say never... Now, after moving around most of my life, I have put down some roots. We bought a house in Owatonna almost 5 years ago - and I love the house. I finally have my fireplace, larger kitchen, 2 large gardens, and a huge garage for the 3 motorcycles, 3 wheeler, and all the other man toys. I've never been fond of having neighbors close by, but our neighbors are pretty cool. I also have ahealing studio in our home, which is my sanctuary. About 2 years ago I picked up a job to support my passions. It has evolved into a great job. We sell pre-owned cars & trucks, and also have a showroom full of motorcycles, leathers, helmets, etc. I feel right at home working in the showroom. I am officially a used car saleswoman. Who would have ever thought! My boss is wonderful. Talk about trust...he left me in charge while he went on vacation for a week. Life is good! The best way to change the world is to change what's inside of you first. Peace to all.
