Diana's Story

I am hunting diligently for my Tazewell High School scrapbook that I filled with photos of friends, cards, letters, and reminders of special occasions. I knew where it was until I moved the last time to a patio home in Christiansburg. I kept an interesting diary too full of tidbits! My sisters, Robin, and Jennifer attended THS too. Please check out Tazewell High School Class 76-80 on Facebook too for info and join us. What have I done since high school? Well in 1979, I attended the College of William and Mary about a brief stint at UT which I hated by the way! I made several really good friends quickly, Gayle Dunsmore Gorman, Julie Kirkendall Cox, and Paige Snarr. Then, Lori Okerstrom Jeffrey and I became roommates. We caught up this summer. She has two wonderful girls...but I am off track. I wish an English major undergrad, then an American Studies grad student. William and Mary was much more competitive undergrad. Amy Reich and I had bunches of classes together. John Bickel and I had lots of political science classes. He's in Hawaii now and Amy is back in Northern Virginia. During grad school, I started working part time in a local real estate office as a receptionist. In the next couple of years, I worked in property management where Jeff - you know who you are from Tazewell - gave me a hard time about a rental when he was in law school. Then, I started selling real estate. I was pretty good at it. Later, I became the sales manager. Trish West, Jacqui Mart, Myunghi Lee who is now Jamie Renslo, and Donna Larsen were my roommates then. They were all special. I have managed to catch up with all of them except Donna lately. Eventually I ended up managing MKB, Realtors in Roanoke, VA. In 1997, I married again. Terry and I had our son, Brandon a year later. Brandon is such a great kid. He constantly reminds me that I am lucky to have him as a son. He's ri...Expand for more
ght I could do worse. I now am the managing broker at Prudential Radford and Associates,Realtors in downtown Blacksburg, VA. Real estate is a great profession for women. It is a even playing field where any one can excel with hard work. Luckily, our market has been good until this last crisis...who knows what lies ahead. What did I do during these past few years! A little of this and a little of that. I liked vacations to beaches. Good thing that Gayle lives in Bermuda and John lives in Hawaii. I have also visited Cancun, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Barbados, St. Martin, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico...well you can see the trend. Some of my favorite moments besides seeing my son's face for the first time or watching my soon to be husband's face as I walked down the aisle include: Hanging out with Vickie Cook Vance during the trying teen years. Watching and more importantly listing to Ray Charles and Patti LaBelle perform on a beach with a full moon behind them. Sailing lessons in Bermuda. The water was incredible. Visiting my cousins, Lynn and Kay Harman. Lynn I need to catch up with you. My visit with Mark Rodgers in NY that Suzi Branch and I took. Sitting in box seats during an Atlanta play off baseball game so close to Jane Fonda and Ted Turner that I could touch them. It was a great game too! Meeting my niece and nephew for the first time. Showing America specifically southwest Virginia to Stephen Horn. Doing almost anything with Lisa...I hope that you and Wade love Sarasota. What else should I say? I feel blessed to have 2 remarkable sisters who have been so involved in my life. Robin is an insurance broker in Tazewell. Jennifer is working on her master's degree with Carilion in Roanoke. Please call me or let me know if you are visiting Blacksburg, I would really like to talk about old times and share more current experiences.
