Diane's Story
I just recently joined FB at the urging of a sorority sister, and now Classmates---both really amazing at how they can reconnect people! Since I am on the computer all day at work, I do not often want to be on it at home....I hope to try to log on more now because of these sites--they're pretty neat.
After graduation I went to The University of Florida and graduated in 1986 with a BA in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. Two weeks after graduation I was at Clemson University in South Carolina to get my Masters Degree in Education. I chose that school as my boyfriend, Carl A. Sutton, Jr. was there. (also class of 1982 CSHS. He died 2/26/1993 when scuba diving in Mexico. He had been mapping caves. Was part owner of a dive shop in Gainesville, FL and a certified instructor and cave diver). I graduated Summer 1987 from Clemson and then had some fun traveling. In July 1989 I started work for Allstate Insurance as a claims adjuster and am still there. I just kind of "fell into it"....I still think about going back to education but after almost 20 yr...Expand for more
s w/a company where I get a pension, 401K match, and over 6 weeks of vacation a year, it is difficult to leave. My dream would be to win the lottery, (isn't that everyone's?) and spend my time volunteering for animal and environmental groups. Oh, and traveling too. :0)
After having a spectacular single/dating life, I married in October 2000. Mother always told me "You're a long time married" and "You're only young and single once so enjoy yourself", so that is what I did. Carl and I had often talked of marriage but I wanted to wait....I had 3-4 other long/serious relationships over the years and met my husband in 1998. We have a son born in October 2003 who is the joy of my life. I love seeing the world through his eyes and he makes me smile and laugh every day. He is my best and most proud accomplishment in life. :0)
Update: I left Allstate in Sept 2010 and have been quite happy and less stressed since leaving the insurance claims world. I work part time for a non-profit, no kill animal rescue shelter in Boca Raton which is very rewarding. :0)
