Anne's Story
My story? Boring, but here it is. I have 110 college hours, and chose "him" over Mickey Mouse ( I was offered an internship at Disney World.) I have lived in Columbia for almost 30 years, and consider it home. I visit family and friends in St. Louis, but I can't imagine moving back. I have three children: Andy, 6 weeks shy of 21, and Elaine and Matthew, 17 (yes, twins...not my idea, I just had to go along with the plan). Andy is in his third year at Mizzou studying Electrical Engineering. Elaine is thinking Mizzou, but hasn't decided on a major yet. Matt wants to go to culinary school. I have a job, and as my nest continues to empty, I hope to move up from job to career. I have been a career mother for more than twenty years, but the retirement benefits are iffy, so feel I should look for something I can enjoy for another 25 years or so. Motherhood has been a very challenging, fulfilling and rewarding career, and I love it, but ...Expand for more
have learned that the old saying really is true..."That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
I have a wonderful in-town "family"...many kind and generous friends without whom I may have died instead of getting stronger. We celebrate birthdays and holidays together just as any family would do. We help eachother with home-improvement projects, landscaping, kid issues and normal everyday stuff. I still miss my parents, sisters and brother and their families, but having such a strong sense of community in Columbia is what makes it home for me.
I am by no means an artist but enjoy craft projects. I love going for leisurly bike rides on the Katy Trail, walking through Rock Bridge State Park and chill-time in my own back yard.
The picture I have posted is of my children and grand-dogger. I will have to transfer some files to upload a pic of me, but since they are the best part of me, a picture of my kids seemed appropriate to past.
