Cindy's Story
I have two wonderful kids, Scott 28 and Jennifer 25 and a granddaughter, Cassie, who is four. My son lives in Colorado Springs and works for Lockheed Martin. Some day he wants to move closer to home. He is a huge OU fan and hates missing games. My daughter lives in Moore, Oklahoma and is going to nursing school.
I was married for nearly 10 years to my ex-husband Larry. We are good friends now. Shortly after my divorce from Larry was final, I remarried. I stayed 16 years in that relationship but realized that I wasn't happy, so I left him 3 years ago. Single life is hard and lonely at times and dating is not what it is cracked up to be, but I have no regrets.
I guess I did things a little backwards because I started my family, then decided to go to college. In 1986, Janet (North) said, "Hey let's take some classes at NEO." It sounded fun...Expand for more
so I enrolled and graduated with an associates degree. After NEO, I enrolled at Missouri Southern in Joplin, but a spur of the moment decision led me and my ex-husband to OU. I received a bachelor's degree in business management, then went to law school and graduated in 1993.
I was in private practice for eleven years, doing mostly criminal defense work. Then, 5 years ago I got a job as pro bono coordinator with legal aid in their Oklahoma City office and about a year ago, I became a statewide coordinator in addition to my regular duties. My job involves referring cases to private attorneys in the community who have agreed to represent our clients without a fee. Believe it or not, there are a lot of attorneys out there who have compassion for the plight of low income people.
I miss seeing everyone but 30 years??? That can't be right! :)
