MORE Breaking News! 9/23/2023
We have moved again, a short move but still requiring the packing of precious possessions and priceless memories. (yes, I like alliteration; always have, always will) This was a 20 mile move to the north side of Oklahoma City, to a very kool and gated condominium complex. We (I use that term loosely) needed more closet space. I have to believe (hope) it will be my last move; don't think I can do it ever again. Today - five days after - I feel (and look like) a character of The Walking Dead. I am pooped, from all the unpacking and placing, and then the repositioning of practically everything. Does anyone out there know what I'm talkin' 'bout? I believe this is the 10th time (post-college) I have done this. If Becky decides to build a summer cabin on the lot she owns in South Fork CO, I will be okay with that. The only thing needing to make that move (every spring, then in the fall) will be me curled up in a wardrobe box.
Breaking News! Profile Addendum!! March 2021
Late August 2020 I gave ownership my 6 month notice. The Managing Member said he would get a court injunction against me, but I checked with an attorney and was told they can't do that. It was time. Fifty-one years of runnin' numbers was enough.
We completed a move to Oklahoma City. We have a kool little townhouse with a loft that I have designated as (with Beck's permission) the Writer's Loft. It is here over the next 4 years that I will complete the book I started in 2013 . . . . Ranch Road to Cooperstown. Retirement was crucial if I was ever to finish the book.
Also, my knees have turned to mush and I most likely backpacked my last trail last November (2020). I and old friends will still get together about a campfire, but it will be a remote and easy access trek of a mile or less. Yes, old age has it's disadvantages. It's a reality of life; it is what it is, c'est la vie!

Pre- retirement posting:
I've been a bean counter all my life - have counted beans in Pennsylvania (twice) and New Hampshire and Oklahoma and Texas (twice) - my last assignment was a family owned funeral home chain in the DFW region . . . for 13 years, 3 months and 7 days.
I have two terrific children (Cecil and Millicent) and four marvelous grandchildren in the Carolinas whom I don't see nearly enough.
In 2001, found Becky in Muskogee OK, married the following year, and I give her all the credit for getting me back in the Lord's good graces.
Plans are to retire in 2020 and move Becky, doxie dawg Duby and myself back to Oklahoma.. I continue to push back the year of retirement. HELLO! Does it sound like I actually enjoy my job? Yes, a big ole bunch. My greatest fear is that crack between the couch cushions . . . that I will fall down between them and suffocate!
Then I'm backpackin' the Appalachian Trail, NOT! I now have knee issues that will confine me to my favorite backpacking haunts . . . the Wichita's (runnin' with the free range bison in the wildlife refuge), the Ouachita's (in the Black Fork Mountain Wilderness, taking folks to the wreckage of Texas International 655), the Boston's of NW Arkansas, and occasionally the Shining Rock Wilderness of western North Carolina (loads of mountain tops, rivers, and waterfalls)..
Then I want to join Baptist Missions in a Field Support capacity of their Masters program. Several years of driving people around, managing petty cash, emptying bedpans and perhaps handing scalpels to doctors (I'll wash my hands first) will take me to an old rocking chair or the beyond - whichever comes first. NOPE - too old now.
