Sally's Story
After graduating high school, my friend (Dawn Forbis) helped me get a job at the Indiana National Bank. I stayed there for about 2 years, but found that the corporate environment was not for me. One day I was looking at the want ads and saw one that piqued my interest. A dance studio was looking for people to train to become ballroom dance instructors. I applied for the position and was put in the training program, along with about 20 other people. After an extensive training period, I was hired. I taught at the studio in Indianapolis for 6 years, and competed professionally in the Latin, Smooth and Theatre Arts divisions. A studio owner from Florida saw me dance and offered me a job. ght at the same studio for about 16 years. I continued competing with my students, but retired from professional competition. During this time I went to college and earned a degree in Interior Design, but I continued teaching. I graduated in 2002, and it was that year that I met my husband, Bill. He came into the studio to take lessons. He was very talented, and entered showcases and competitions. He always took home 1st prize. We had a professional relationship for about 2 years before we began dating. We married in 2005. and moved to Clearwater. I am currently a Social Activities Coordinator for a 55+ community. I plan parties and social gatherings and I also teach a dance class once a week. We have our house up for sale and are planning to move back to Central Florida to be closer to Bill's work.
