Karen's Story
Hey!
I am still going to school - Montcalm High School - but this time as teacher- I teach Seniors - English, Speech, Critical Viewing, sometimes Math, English 11, and at one time middle school ENglish. I have four granchildren: Cameron, age 18..Warren, age 17...Trenton, age 16 and Mason, age 10. They are my world!!! I lost my sister, Blinda in 2008 - that changed my world and then my precious Mom in 2012,stepdad Ernie in 2013, and Dad recently 2018 . Dreama and Russ are still close by. I am married to a wonderful man - Bob; we were married in 2002. If you would like to know more - visit facebook. (Now retired June 2016)
I think everyone remembers me as the "straight A" kid, and the giggly girl in Mrs. Morgan's study hall. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, so I went back to school at age 35. I got my BS Education and majored in English/Mathematics at BSC and Masters from MU; My favorite thing to do is spend time with my three girls and my four grandchildren - boy, is it different having had three girls and then having three boy grandchildren, and one girl.
Remember in M...Expand for more
s. Butler's civics class, when everyone dared me to put green eye shadow on my lips, and I sat right in front of the teacher's desk. She would not have noticed, but the class broke out in laughter. She then yelled "freak" and sent me out of the class, but I just spent the rest of the period in the bathroom, hangin' out the window.
My first crush ever was in first grade - Roger Perkins. I then thought I was in love in 7th. grade to Nathan (Jerry) Bailey, who, by the way, didn't give a diddle about me. I guess I really had fallen for Ricky Adkins in 11th. grade, but by then was dating Warren Neal, whom I married and is the father of my three girls. We divorced, re-married, and then divorced again. I guess you could say I believe I really understand "Life" after so many disappointments. I love teaching and my life is very full, now.
My best friends were: Donna Munsey, Norma Clark, Karen Gillenwater, Brenda Bowman, Drema Shoemaker, Debbie Huffman. The funny thing is the very ones who I thought would not stay married did, but others divorced as I did, not once, but twice or more.
