Autumn's Story

I have not changed too considerably since high school. I am still self-motivated, always busy, and reserved. One of my favorite pasttimes is learning and it turns out I am quite good at academic work. Currently, I am in the last place I thought I would be because my husband had a "calling" to be a Lutheran pastor. I am fairly removed from the church and choose to remain that way, though my husband does not know that in so many words. I just gave birth to my second child, Jovi Alora (Nov 18, 2008) and she is a beautiful addition to my son, Caden Eugene (passed down on Dad's side...not my choice of middle names), who was born on June 20, 2006. I love my family, but they do wear on me. I am the sole provider for my family, as my husband is a full-time student. I just completed my Bachelor's degree (June 2008 in English Language and Literature) and plan on beginning my Master's degree in June of this year (English Language and Literature). I thank God for online schooling from accredited, well-known, universities. A few months ago, my schedule was such: Wake up 5am, work until 330pm, care for my son until 8pm (or his chosen bedtime for the night), study until 1am. Start again. I have next to no help at home from my husband due to his busy schedule, so I learned to function on 4 hours of sleep. The amazing thing ...Expand for more
is that I still pulled off a GPA of 3.976 (I had an A- in a math class). I am preparing to take up this schedule again, but with two kids to care for. I live in St. Louis, MO on a seminary campus in a town home with my husband and two kids. I keep to myself mostly because when forced to choose between seminary wife activity (they like to keep husbands and wives separated as much as possible in my opinion) and caring for my kids...I want to be with my children. They have become the center of my universe and I would not change that for the world. If I could change anything, it would be that I would be granted more time with my children. My biggest surprise in life was the moment my husband decided to be a pastor. We were well off and living in a great house in Georgia, where the weather is nearly unbeatable. We had two dogs, good jobs, and a happy life. This has changed since then and we are going from paycheck to paycheck...the one thing I never wanted in life. The comfort is that it should not always be like this, once my husband gets a call to a congregation. I am sure the place we are called will be my next BIG surprise. You have limited control on where you are placed in America. I miss the high school years when I did not have to be so responsible. It turns out growing up is not all it is cracked it to me.
