Doris Layton:  

I graduated from Savannah State University in 1985 with a BBA in Office Administration. After the birth of my first son, Cedric, I joined the Army from 1987-1989. After basic training, I was sent to Fort Drum, NY (the coldest place in the world compared to Morven) and afterwards I was sent to Fort Jackson, SC. After I was discharged, I decided to make my home here in Columbia, SC where I have been for the past 20 years. I got married in 1992 and had two more children, Krista (1994) and Daniel (1999). I worked for the Department of Social Services and after leaving there, I began teaching at Caughman Road Elementary in Columbia, SC. I have been there for the past four years, working with the Pre-Kindergarten class. My mother passed away on June 18, 2002 and my father passed away on January 21, 2005.
