Andrew's Story
The short story. After high school went back east to an over priced private university in Boston. Thought I would I wanted to become an engineer. After two years and some summer school it wasn't going to work out. Came back home to try again. Continued to beat head against the wall. Dabbled in other subjects and excelled in accounting. Changed major to business, in hopes to gain skills to run my own business some day. spent all my free time competing in sailing. Tried my hand at technical sales. Good experience. Started training to qualify for the Olympics. Got married in 1999. The travel around the world to compete in sailing was a lot of fun. Got close to qualifying for Olympics in 1999, placed 3rd at Trials. Learned to day trade just in time for a nasty bear market, 2000. Cashed out long positions in time to get short and bet on the down side with success. The gig was up for buy and hold and anything dot com. Continued to train for the 2004 Olympics. in with using my skills gained from sailing and career skills contracting for unmanned aerial vehicle company. A Garage based company that grew to 100's of employees in 5 years. Tried my hand at investment advisor. Couldn't stay committed enough to cold calling. Wasn't able to sell my investment advice based on performance and knowledge. It doesn't work that way. What was I thinking? Got back to my other business, nothing like being in the right place at the right time with UAV's. Carved out a good niche for my company. Say good bye to free time and windsurfing whenever I want to get out. My customer bought out by Boeing. First child, daughter born. Lots of fun to see her grow. Best motivator to get in gear and provide. Potential business continues to grow. Downturn in economy not a factor, we don't even notice. Next year could be $2 - $10 million in business depending on execution. Life is good. Had fun along the way and enjoy looking back to see how far we've come. Can't wait for next year.
All the best.
Andy
