Heather's Story
After grad, went to Success Business College (hated it)worked for a while,
partied a lot and did some drinking married boy from Winnipeg - a St. Paul's boy. Bad move - bad marriage for 16 miserable years. Not much partying, but drank a lot! Finally got my act together and left him - got into the recruiting industry (where I stayed for 20+ years) had a lot of fun, dated a lot, drank a lot!!! Big surprise - in 1985 I walked into the rooms of AA and have been there ever since - 24 years in May of this year. Had a lot of work to do to repair the havoc I created but it was a life changing decision. Met and married a great guy - he was the lead singer for The Diamonds - we had a whirlwind courtship of 5 years and then married.
GOOD MOVE - we had a wonderful wonderful marriage and 18 amazing years together until he died of lung cancer in April 2006.

wreck, but didn't pick up a drink!!!) - another life changing event. I am content with my life - have a great family, a wonderful 6 year old grandson, great friends. Oshawa is the last place I ever thought I would be living but I like being out of the Toronto area - lived there for many many years and am enjoying the lifestyle here - Toronto is no place for old people!
Who ever knows where life will take us?
I feel that i have been truly blessed in my life - not that I ever had any ambition to be a member of AA (sober drunks). Jimmy (my husband) and I went to Las Vegas for my 60th birthday and I realized that if I had gone there when I was younger and still drinking, I would never have left! I'd be one of those old ladies with the swollen feet pushing the change cart!
