Leah's Story

I attended elementary and high school in a place called Timbo. I graduated high school as salutatorian. I was president of every club, except F.F.A, I never really wanted to be a future farmer! I was captain of all my teams in sports. I was even lucky enough to have already met my soul mate. We were high school sweethearts, Clay and I, and we had a dream. We were engaged by the time we graduated and married later that same year. People told me we'd never make it "teen marriages don't survive" or you're too young" they'd say. Literally there were bets that kids that get married right out of school wouldn't last a year. I am proud to say though that September 21st, was our 7 year wedding anniversary! It just goes to show you some dreams really do come true. After graduation, I started attending a 2 year community college there. Unfortunately though, a difficult pregnancy made me fall behind. I ended up dropping out just after the start of the 2nd semester. After the birth, I was convinced I'd failed and was reluctant to go back. I turned 26 in November. Clay's 26th birthday was in late July. Our son, Ethan, celebr...Expand for more
ated his 6th birthday a week or so before that. Our second born son, Donovann, would have had a birthday back in April, but tragically he passed away at only 5 months and 20 days of age. S.I.D.S is the only answer they can give us parents, when a perfectly healthy infant dies in their sleep. We're learning to deal with our grief on a day to day basis. It's something we're coping with but devastatingly something we'll never understand. So we've been through just about everything together, but all in all, I think our family is pretty strong. We're just average people. We have migrated back to the central part of the state now in Conway once again. Clay works at a school furniture distribution factory. Ethan is in first grade now homeschooling with me. This will be an adventure! I was a home health aide for the state of Arkansas for more that three years. After the death of my son, I decided to take some time off. I wanted to do something new, start over. I want to take a new path in life, perhaps to see where it leads me, or maybe just for the journey. I guess that's what brings me here. We will see what happens.
