Sandra's Story
Hi Fellow Classmates,
I can't believe I've never been to a reunion. Once what seemed so unimportant in my 20's has become a much more significant event in my 60's. I have made arrangements to come to the reunion this year. Tickets, room and flight are booked!
What has happened in my life? I taught school in Winnipeg for 2 years (General Byng Elementary) and then moved to Victoria where I taught for 2 and a half years while my first husband attended U. Victoria to work on his PHD. My son was born in Victoria and shortly thereafter I was back at University upgrading my courses while my husband sought "greener pastures". I then moved to Vernon where I had family (my sister, Dianne). I have lived in Vernon, B.C. for the last 36 years. Thanks to my first husband, I went back to school and became an elementary school teacher. I loved my job. Teaching was certainly my passion. ars until I retired. I met and married my second husband when my son was three. My son,now lives in Calgary with his wife and 15 year-old daughter. He is a successful musician and businessman. If you like country music, you may see him playing B3 organ with the Road Hammers or accordian, keyboards or grand piano with George Canyon. Music is his passion whether he is on tour or in his businesses.
Over the years I have continued taking piano lessons and then taught piano myself in addition to my teaching career. My second husband and I separated but have continued to be good friends over the last 11 years. I love gardening, attending hockey games with our local Vipers team, spending time with friends, bowling and going south for at least part of the winter.
I always wanted to be a person who made a positive difference when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a dream idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
