Lee's Story

Myrna and I got married in 1966 while attending CSU. She went into Soc. Work and I started as a Branch Manager of two Savings and Loan offices in Boulder. I did well in banking. I was in Sr. Management when I was 27 and on the Board of Directors of a bank in Wyoming by the time I was 37. I also won two first place national marketing awards for banks between $500 million and $1 billion in deposits. Myrna and I had two children, Brian (1974) and Amy (1977). Brian is an attorney in So. Denver and Amy is in charge of marketing for a company in Colo Spgs. We lived in Colo Spgs while the kids were in high school. We got into the horse program in Wyoming and by the time we lived in the Black Forest, Amy was showing every weekend. She ended up taking State Champion in both Western and English before we moved to OR. Myrna's asmha was so bad that she had been in the hospital about 30 times in about 14 months. So we were forced to either move to TX or to the Northwest. I had a job offer in Eugene OR so we moved there in 1996. I managed the retail banking, marketing, insurance, stocks and bonds, and most of the other functions that were not related to commercial real estate for a bank that was about $180 million when I got there and about $800 million when I retired. Life was going well, Myrna did not have another ashma attact after we moved and we enjoyed being close to the mountains and the coast. Myrna was back to skiing, hiking and she even went hunting and fly fishing with me a few times. We got to do quit a lot of traveling thru the Bank and returned to Colo about twice a year. In 2006, I had to have my neck operated on again. I had it fused in two places in 1991, while I lived in Colo. I did not do a good job of picking a Dr. He operated three times and I ended up suffering brain damage. I had global amnishia (I did no...Expand for more
t know anything)but after about 5-6 six months some things came back to me. It effected my long term and short term memory, so I had to retire from the Bank. We moved back to Colo so we could be close to our son and daughter as well as Myrna's family and brother Les and his wife Rita. I have had three more shoulder operations and have ongoing pain from all of the operations. However, I still go camping, fly fishing, ATVing and hunting with Les, my son and my daughter (I can not go alone or I may get lost). Myrna keeps hoping! The rest of the time, I watch a lot of movies. I can't read very well and as you can see from this life story, I can't spell very well either. I did not go thru the Q and A section, since I don't remember which books, movies etc. I do like county western music after all of the horse shows and rodeos that I attended with my daughter Amy. I was the one to get us in the horse program, since I wanted them for elk hunting. We had Brittney Spanials for 25 years because I like to bird hunt. Now we have a lap dog for Myrna. Les and I both live up in the north end of Colo Spgs close to the air force academy. We live about 3/4 of a mile from each other, so we spend a lot of time together even when we are not in the outdoors doing things. It took three years to finnaly accept the fact that I was not going to get any better and this was the "new normal" as Myrna puts it. I can still remember most of our high school days and what a perfect student I was. All A's as I recall and never goofed off in class ect. However, some of you may remember it a little differently!!!!! I hope that all of you are doing well and that life has been good to you. I used to know how to use the computer quite well, but I also lost that along with most everthing else. Someday I will figure out how to put some photos on my site.
