David 's Story
Janet and I married on June 8, 1969. Shortley after my only brother died in October. In May of '70 I was drafted and the big war was raging. I voluntered for the Air Force. Our oldest child was born while I was in Texas in basic training. We lived in Rantoul, IL for about 3 mons. This is where I did my training in Jet Engines; then we moved to McConnell AFB in Whichita, KS and stayed there for about 2 years; then on to North Carolina to Pope AFB. I was discharged in March of 1974. We returned to Wayne County. We moved to Owensboro because David's parents were living here then. I started doing custom work for farmers with my backhoe and dozer. rmed Kidd Pipeline and did quite a bit of pipelining for the next ten years. Construction slowed down in the eighties. I then decided to go into the building supply business. That I did until 2008. This was about 28 years in this business. Janet worked at Woolco when we first moved to Owensboro. After her Dad died in 1991 she went to school to become a paralegal. She worked in the legal profession for about 15 years. Loved every minute of it. retired in 2008.
Have two children, Susan Rushing and James David Kidd. Three granddaughters, Amanda and Hannah Davis and Scarlet Kidd. We also have three Australian Shepherds, Susie, Abby and Sydney Piper, all red merles.
