Dennis's Story
I went to Macomb Community college after graduating high school but was not really interested in school at that time so I joined the Air Force. I was in 10/1971 to 10/1975. After basic I went to Forbes AFB Kansas and was a clerk in the 313 Security Police Squadron. I got my coice of assignment and then was stationed at Eglin AFB at the 33rd Muniton Maintenance Squadron. I spent my last year in Thailand At NKP Royal Thai Air Force Base. We were direct support for Vietnam. When I came back I worked as a warehouseman until I could get a job at Chryslers Sterling Stamping Plant. I was laid off in 1979 and did not get called back so I joined the US Army because they offered me an MOS as an election.

four years were up Chrylser called me back but I decided to re-enlist in the Army and re-enlisted as a telecommunications specialst. I spent the rest of my time at Ft. Riley Kansas. I worked as a salesman for a year in Manhattan Kansas before going back to college. I attended Kansas State University and received a Bachelors degree in Business in 1992. I then was hired as a Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist in August 1992. I went back to school and received a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development from Webster University in 1996. I worked for the State of Kansas unitl I was offered a job in August 1998 by the U.S. Department of Vetrans Affairs. I have been working for the VA ever since.
