Jennifer's Story

Some things never change. I still get bored really easy, I have little patience for stupidity, and even less tolerance for people with no integrity. So yeah, I got stupid at 18 and married that dude, but kicked him out and had him locked up when he hit me about 6 months into the marriage. Saw him once about 15 years ago when I was scuba diving in a quarry out in PA. He had the nerve to want to take me out to dinner and catch up on "old times". Since then, I worked in the financial industry picking up a lot of different skills and continuing ed, tinkered with web design, Databases etc. Wound up as VP of Operations before I burned out and redeveloped myself into a new career. Relationships - I was almost married to a guy and we were together for 13 years. The guy was fun to hang with in the beginning but had some issues he didn't want to deal with. I never married him because something wasn't sitting right and I couldn't put my finger on it. I later learned after we split it was the right decision as he was involved in some white collar crime/ID theft ring. I felt really stupid for a while because I should have known. You really think - how could it happen under my nose? With perspective, I see how I worked 60 - 80 hour weeks and was like a zombie on the weekends trying to build a career not to make an excuse for stupidity in relationships but to forgive myself for not seeing what was right in front of me. Everyone wants to know about the guy in the photo. He is an egghead engineer I have been dating for a little over 5 years. Someone to do stuff and travel with. We both freelance for a music magazine (Dig This Real - nationally distributed at B&N) and best of all he doesn't nag - doesn't get iritated that I have my nose in a tech manual - doesn't get pissed when I bring work home - and understands when work requires "long hours". And no - we don't live together which is probably why he understands. And ladies - he takes out the trash out without me asking. The photo is our costume from the Halloween Parade in the village (NYC) 2008 - Bacon and Egg. IT'S NOT A JAPANESE FLAG. You have no idea how many times people ask. Back to career, I left the banking industry because they were looking for scapego...Expand for more
ats right when the financial crisis started to hit the fan in 2005. So I went on a cruise in the Carribean and did a lot traveling to clear my head. I came back and decided that I was tired of a long commute and the BS. I decided I wanted to meet and network with businesses, but I was having a hard time getting invites to local business events. So I started an on-line business to get networked. You know - one of those things everyone claims is a scam that you toss money at. I had not even considered making money, but using it as a tool to pay dues get into SBA and Chamber of Commerce Meetings. So I sold incentive travel through this on-line work at home business mirroring the work I did in Marketing in the Fortune 500. I completely self automated this business and have about 15 sales folks that work on split commission, and about 50 travel agents I still earn a secondary stream of income despite the economy. How did I ever wind up making money with one of those things everyone insisted was a scam? I worked with integrity and although I do occassionally recruit independent distributors, my main focus is moving product to businesses maintaining my Statement of Purpose to help small businesses owners compete with larger companies with incentive programs. In my networking I met a guy who was really impressed with the way I handled crisis and found solutions. He offered me an opportunity of a lifetime that I see it as a priviledge. I went back to a regular day job working as a Logistician for the Army. So flash forward at age 43, I am finally getting back in college with American Military University - but I am CLEPPING most of the core classes and passing them hands down. Only 23 of the UCC credits translate to my degree program. Go figure - the most undisciplined, unhinged, wild child conforming to this idealistic view of society. What happened? So I live a life of study, but I love to travel the world. When I vacation I live it up large! To detense on the weekends I work writing for the magazine. I am a total hockey snob and won't go unless I am in Gold Circle seating. If it isn't first class - I'm better off watching the game on TV. I have very little drama these days - and I like it that way.
