Luis's Story

- Below is my run down of the years I spent in PS 198 from the latest to the earliest. I didn't graduate from PS 198; my parents had decided to move to Puerto Rico once the school year was over and for the 2nd time I attended school over there. Had I graduated from PS 198 I would've been part of the class of '91. - 6th grade would've been my fourth year enrolled in the PEP program which essentially was a sub-school. The 1st year was run by Ms. Freed and Ms. Bernstein and my homeroom teacher was Ms. Nero. For reasons unexplained to me by the 2nd year all the original teachers were gone and a new director was in place. - Ms. Bass was our theater teacher and we produced a play based on the movie Grease; we also did a circus play. - Every year the 5th grade class was taken to a camping trip in cabins. 1989-90 5th grade PEP program Ms. Gonzalez 1988-89 4th grade PEP program Ms. Gonzalez (got married and became Mrs. Vasquez during that school year) 1987-88 3rd grade PEP program Ms. Nero 1986-87 2nd grade Mrs. Fields (the 1st part of the school year I went to school in PR) 1985-86 2nd grade I don't remember the name of my first 2n...Expand for more
d grade teacher (I got left back this year and began my 1st part of my 2nd round of 2nd grade in PR) 1986-85 1st grade Ms. Caballero 1985-84 Kindagarten Ms. Kaplan - Some of my classmates during these years were(most are missing last names but the group of names may help in recognizing the class): Kendell & Rodney(think they were cousins and lived in Normandie Court right across the street from the school); Thomas; Antwon; Kenny; Ramon; Kimberly; Paola Sandoval, Charles Caban; Terrence; Jason & Franchesca (siblings); Miguel; Jasmine; Antonio; Nicholas If anyone recognizes any teachers, students or any descriptions written above don't hesitate to contact me. I just want to know if anyone could fill me in on the PEP program after 1990 or anyother details of the school. I'm also looking for a friend of mine who lived in the Lexington Houses between 98 and 99th street. These projects consisted of two city blocks with two 14 story buildings on each block. I believe he lived in the back building closest to 3rd Ave. on the 8th floor, possibly apt. 8E. His name is/was Parish and he lived with his grandmother. He also attended PS 198.
