Shirley's Story

I married James Edward Hoover of Clearbrook, VA on April 6, 1963 and moved to Virginia. We have two children: a girl, Christine Adair Hoover, she now lives in Inwood, WV and a son, David Edward Hoover and he lives in Lusby, MD. We do not have any grandchildren, but do have 6 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great gandchildren. I worked at various part-time jobs while the children were little and then finally getting a full time job with American Woodmark which I worked there for 17 1/2 years as a cabinet builder. Before quitting AW I attended Lord Fairfax Community College and after graduation I got an...Expand for more
office job with the National Wildlife Federation where I worked for 10 years before retiring. My daughter talked me into going to college with her. I was afraid at first but decided to give it a try and to my surprise I made A's & B's. Didn't do that good in high school. I am glad she talked me into going to get a better job. Jim and I are enjoying our retirement at our home in Winchester, VA. We do not travel much due to Jim's heart attacks. On Nov. 19th 2010 our son and his wife became grandparents. Janice's youngest daughter, Sarah, gave birth to a boy and named him Tyler Anthony Ruttkay.
