Susan's Story
I started working at OSU after graduation. I married in 1972 to Glenn Mackie and told people that I supported the arts but in actuality, I was supporting my husband as he attended Columbus College of Art and Design. We moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 1979 so he could attend graduate school at the University of Wisconsin. It was very difficult to leave our family and friends but we packed up everything we owned and left Ohio behind us. Glenn drove the U-haul truck while I cried all the way out of Ohio and half way up the state of Illinois. Once we got to Madison, we moved in to student housing. nd graduated in 1982. Our son was born in 1981 in ÃÂÿMad CityÃÂÿ. I currently work at Nationwide and have been there since 1982. Our daughter was born in 1990 and I have a stepdaughter who was born in 1971. Our lives are full with our children (3) grandchildren (7) and my husbandÃÂÿs continued interest in the arts and music. He plays and teaches the bagpipes and because of it, we have traveled to Scotland several times with his bagpipe band to compete in the WorldÃÂÿs Championship. People have told me I look Scottish, but I dye my hair red!
