Chuck's Story

Being a Military Brat I only spent 3 years in Tucson but have many fond memories from those I played basketball with and against, in fact one became my brother in law. After HS I played some ball on a scholorship at Oregon State and studied Mechanical Engineering and moved to Pasadena, CA. for a few years I got married and took graduate Math classes at CSULA and after a few years I figured out I didn't want to work in an office as a mechanical engineer any longer went to a trade school to become a Machinist. After figuring out LA wasn't my kind of town moved to Seattle for half a dozen years. I got divorced and married again and worked my way into a management position for a startup company who did an IPO. The CEO from that company moved to Silicon Valley to take a new position running a Laser Company and brought me along. Holding a number of Engineering and Manufacturing management positions I eventually became an Executive of that company that went public in 1999 at the height of the dot com bubble, Interesting enough one of the divisions I...Expand for more
was responsible for was located in Tucson (Opto Power at the time) everyone had fun. After that I got fired in a buyout by a large company and took a CEO job of a VC funded laser company in Tucson of all the strange places, it was a commuting job. After a couple of years there I retired from the corporate life and took over a mom and pop spring manufacturing company and added all of the capabilities to turn it into a Medical Device Manufacturing company in my home town of Livermore, CA. where we fabricated and assembled implantable medical devices on a contract basis. In 2017, after 30. years in California, I had enough of the nuts and flakes in CA and retired to Texas. Somewhere between LA and Seattle I took up. serious rock, ice and mountain climbing and climbed many of the best routes around the world including the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere (in Argentina) and some of the classic climbs in Yosemite, the Italian Alps and Alaska. Along the way a couple of my very best friends have died and I hope you are all well and healthy.
