Robin's Story
So you want to know about my life. Well, In 10th grade I met the man of my dreams... Jim Yates, and we dated the rest of High School. He proposed at the Senior Prom. We graduated in May 1975 and married in April 1976. We had our first and only child (Shannon) in July 1977. Things were great until he asked for a divorce one year later. Our divorce was final on Valentine's Day 1979. I was single for 13 years. During that time we (me and Shannon) moved to Columbus, OH for 3 years, then to Sacramento, CA for 9 months. I got really home sick so I moved back to Louisville. I met my current husband in December 1986 and how ironic... he proposed on Valentine's Day 1987. We were married in March 1987 and have been married for 22 years now.
My daughter was, and is, my best friend. She was the one piece of stability I had in my life. She married a wonderful man (Matt Young) in 1998. They have 2 beautiful children, a daughter - Hailey, and a son - Stephen. They are the apples of my eye. I cherish each and every moment I get to spend with them. They live close so I see them often.
During my employment at AAF International (formerly American Air Filter) I made the decision to go to college. After 7 long years of full time school, and full ti...Expand for more
me work, I graduated with 2 Bachelor's Degrees... a BA in Business Management, and a BS in Computer Science.
We currently live in the Hikes Point area. My husband is retired but tinkers with part time employment to keep busy. I lost my job of 14 years about 3 years ago. Because of my husband being retired, instead of going back to the rat-race of "Corporate America", we decided that I would work for myself. I have a house-cleaning business I do a little on the side (to eat), but my main love is my Avon Business. I have been selling for 2+ years, and starting to do very well. I have gone into leadership and I am growing my business everyday. I love the service I offer to others, and training new representatives. My goal is to get my business strong enough that I can give up the cleaning service next year.... after all, the old body is not what it used to be. I especially love the pride that I feel because I am doing something I love. I know I will someday be able to say that I built this business from nothing into something to be proud of.
We do not have wealth, but we have each other, and we have our families. Life has had its tough moments... but all in all... I am happy. I have my health, I have my family, and I have pride in myself.
