Amy's Story
After High School, I went to Couger High for 2 years (no degree earned). Then moved to Chattanooga and on to Chattanooga State. I first got my vocational certificate in Dental Assisting and worked for a Dentist in Chattanooga for a year. I then went back to Chatt. State to get my Dental Hygiene degree. During my last semester, I was home one weekend and met Dennis simonds. I had remembered him from high school but didn't really know him that well. That didn't last long, we dated for 3 months and got engaged and 3 more months later we got married. Now 17 years later, we are still very happy and still very much in love. We have 2 boys, Will 13 and Dyson 10. Now our lives revolve around them. Who would have ever thought I would be a "Soccer Mom"! Ha Ha! Well, I am! A soccer and basketball mom. Run Run Run! But I love it! I have always been a sports nut and VERY competative. So I fit in very well with all the other mom's. I have even learned (along with my 13 year old son and my husband) to referee soccer and my son and I ref. all my youngest son's home games. Dad, the coach, has to handy ref's at all times. How convenient huh?
Contrary to popular belief, it took me 4 years to have a child. So no I wasn't pregnant during that short love affair...Expand for more
and quick wedding. Ha Ha! (a lot of people thought that! Really!) Now as for my boys. Will (William Benjamin) was named for my dad (whom I miss very very much everyday) and my father-in-law. I had to give him Will as a nickname since my dad went by Bill so he could have his own name. Dyson (Dyson Qwen) was named for his dad - Dyson means an abbreviation for Dennis son and Qwen was after Dennis' mother (her name was Gwen).
Now I'm back in Etowah, Goodsprings to be exact. I live less than a 10th of a mile from my mom. My kids go to Mt. View. They have some of the teachers we had (including Mr. Corn!) and some of the people we went to school with are their teachers (which is kinda wild since I know how they used to be HA HA JK)I work in Athens as a Dental Hygienist for (believe it or not) Jayson Carter. Some of you may know him he went to McMinn and was a year behind me in school. It's kinda like working for your bratty little brother. But he's a great employer and I love my job. I have been there for 11 years now and plan on retiring from there. Hopefully.
