Laura's Story
I left Mound right after graduation and never looked back. I attended an 18-month medical secretarial course at Hennepin Tech that I finished in 15, Quickly got a job for a doctor in Wayzata. And I have worked doing medical transcription my entire working career, and still do part time from home. I was married in 1976 at 20 and had 3 kids by 24. I wish I could have had a couple more as they’re all successful, married adults who gave me absolutely no trouble growing up. I love being a mom. Now I am truly blessed with 6 grandchildren. Sadly, 4 of them live in Virginia with my son, recently retired Naval Lieutenant and his wife. It’s too far to visit often which breaks my heart. Living in Brooklyn Park for now, I spend time in my small flower garden, volunteering at my church, reading and writing. I’m a published author since 2021 when our Maple Grove writing group published an anthology where I entered several stories. It’s for sale on Amazon, “Bits and Pieces, an Anthology”. how to type to always have a job. So… I shoved that dream way down inside with a whole lot of others and chose to start a family instead. God has provided and put great friends in my life to get through the thick and the thin. Now, as there are more years behind me than in front, I spend too much time thinking of what should have, could have, or would have otherwise taken my life another way. I do wish I had been more involved in high school, joined more clubs, met more class mates. These days its getting harder to remember much from those high school years, unless I see pictures. Anyone else starting to have these issues? If I get up the nerve to actually pay for this service to actually see the people who have “looked” on my site, maybe it’ll bring back some good memories. One thing that was interesting was the book that was typed up for one of the reunions, on what the graduating class was doing 20 (?) years later. That was fun reading. I hope they do that again. I guess I’ll have to keep checking here if they do. Take care everyone. Sending you Peace and Love on whatever journey you’re on. ☮️☮️
