Judith's Story
I'm still a quiet country girl. I was a Registered Dietitian from 1969 until my retirement in 2008. Now I travel, fish, spend time with friends and family, and love to research family history. My genealogy database encompasses over 3000 people because it includes both my family and my late husband's family plus a lot of "side" trees as distant relatives contact me with information!!! I can spend all day looking for that one clue that brings it all together. I have lived in a small, rural community in eastern NC for over 30 years but am now preparing to relocate to a senior apartment in New Port Richey, FL. I am looking forward to being "footloose and fancy free", making new friends, and expanding my horizons!
5/7/2013: I am now settled into my new apartment home in New Port Richey, FL. I LOVE everything about it - the location (close to Gulf beaches, shopping, restaurants, old friends, etc.), the size of my apartment, the group activities, being able to walk without getting hit by a car or bitten by a dog, etc.! On the eve of my 67th birthday, I am alive with hope for the future and joy in the present. I am SO glad I made this move!!
1/28/2014: I have been here 10 months now and continue to love my new home. I have worked hard to lose the excess weight that comes with age and now weigh in at 124# wearing size 8-10. I haven't been this small since - actually, I can't remember when!!! I've discovered that I love wearing pretty clothes and looking good every day. I continue to go out almost daily exploring the area but my favorite place to visit is Ybor City - the Cuban section of Tampa - especially on Saturdays when they have a market in the park where you can buy fresh produce, baked products, homemade fudge, jewelry, crafts, etc. I've also discovered that I love shooting pool - I had an...Expand for more
excellent teacher, we shoot every day, AND I've become quite good at it! I even beat my youngest son on his own table a few months ago!!! My motto is : Live, Love, Laugh. Enjoy every moment because tomorrow is not promised!
12/27/2018: Well y'all, I did it again! Earlier this year I moved back "north" and am now enjoying living outside of Petersburg, VA! I am taking classes at the local Y and active with two groups making quilts and crocheting hats, scarves, blankets, etc for local charities. I'm writing my story based on memories of growing up in Andover and of the other places I have lived. My 2019 resolutions include delving deeper into the family history through genealogical research and the results of my DNA test - there's some new ethnicity results I feel the need to explore since I never knew about them before! We were always told the ancestors came from England, Scotland, Wales, and French Canada so I am going to explore the other info in the new year!! Here's to a healthy, happy and blessed 2019!!!😉
9/23/2022: Virginia lasted 4 years and I am back in NC. In the spring I moved out here to Mooresville - about 30 miles from Charlotte where my youngest son is currently the first-ever Poet Laureate!!! One proud Mama resides in my home 😊.
I am enjoying exploring this part of NC - I can be found traveling the back roads most any day!! Recently connected with a distant cousin of my late husband who lives on the other side of town. He and his wife have taken me antiquing with them - I love to look at all the old stuff - especially since I know what most of it is and can often say "we had that!"
At 76 I am still living independently and driving my own car. I still enjoy traveling and taking cruises.
Here's to many more years as an independent senior citizen!! There's so much more I want to do!!!!
