Vickie's Story
Life, Career, Service:
My background includes over 22 years of technical design and sales experience with AT&T, BellSouth and Lucent Technologies, where I held positions as a Data Systems Specialist, Systems Designer and Account Executive II. I managed Fortune 500 and multinational accounts. While at Lucent Technologies, I qualified as a member of the National Achiever's Club.
Following my career in the technology field, I shared my knowledge with International Business Academy students in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. I now use my knowledge and experience as a financial services professional where I provide client-focused family protection, wealth accumulation, retirement and estate planning strategies and solutions.
I have been an active member of the South Florida community serving on many civic and professional boards. I am Past-President of the Inner City Children's Touring Dance Company and the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. I am a former Executive Committee member of United Home Care Services. I have worked extensively in the education and prevention of domestic violence and am a national speaker on the subject.
I am a facilitator with the Alternatives to Violence Project where I work in prisons. I am a former mentor with the UM/ Kellogg Common Ground Project. I have been recognized by the U.S. Senate and received the Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation 'In the Company of Women' Award, the Lucent Technologies Heroes Award, the Women in Leadership at Lucent Community Service Award, the Florida Telephone Associations State Community Service Award, among many others.
I completed a foreign studies program in El Escorial, Spain, holds a B.S. degree from Florida State University and a Master's in Business Administration degree from Nova-Southeastern University. I am a licensed realtor and hold FINRA Series 6 and 63 securities registrations.
I have traveled extensively and enjoy the arts. I am an amateur photographer and an art collector. I am in the process of publishing a book that I co-wrote a book with my youngest son.
Annually, the ministry that I founded sponsors the Walk to Eliminate Hunger in Haiti. We stock and distribute food and clothing to addicts, and women in domestic violence shelters. We also promote minority organ donation awareness. (My youngest son is a kidney transplant recipient.) I am very involved in my church's music ministry. I also assist small businesses with business planning for a local financial ministry.
My husband, William E. Jackson, Ed.D., is a retired professor. We have three sons.
I am blessed and highly favored.I pray to live a long life so that I may accomplish all my dreams. I encourage everyone to,likewise, pursue their passion(s).
