Paula's Story
In 1972 I got married; had 4 beautiful daughters (1973,1974,1975,1977). Got divorced in 1981. Remarried in 1991. We now have 12 grandchildren, ranging from 15yrs to 4mths (4 boys & 8 girls).
From 1972 to 1981 I stayed at home with the children; then in started working in the restuarant field as a chef. In 1985 "I SOBERED UP" I am a recovering Alcholic and this year is my 24 anniversary of being sober. In 1987 I started college again and became a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I did this for about 10 years and then decided that it was time for me to quit being a Caretaker and TAKE CARE OF MYSELF FOR A CHANGE. I the went into the retail field of selling office supplies. I owned my own business for 2 years and then had to sell my business because of lack of funds. I then worked for 6 years with some of my independent competetors. After that I found myself in horrible physical health. I found out that I have 2 diffferent autoimmune diseases...Expand for more
that inhibit my mobility. So...now I am on permanent disibility. Life is alot different now; however I am still somewhat mobile and take advantage of that on a daily basis. I got to Wally World and walk the isles until I can't walk another step. Then I come home and rest a while and then spend some time on my computer. My life is good and my Husband and I are very much in love. I also, am the caretaker of my Mother-in-Law ( she is in kidney failure and going to start dialysis in November). And last but not least Tim and I have 4 young babies ourselves...Elphaba 4yrs(dog); Harlee 9mths(dog); Maximus 5yrs(cat); Leonidus 1 1/2yrs(cat).
"Life is good, but everyday is a challenge"
On Jan 12th 2015 I had brain bleed, tjen brain surgery that resulted in me having a mild stroke that effected my left side. I currently go thru therapy 4 times a week to strengthen my left arm and leg. I am getting stronger every day and expect a full recovery.
