Kellie's Story
Here is a tongue-in-cheek poem that I wrote this past winter.
Snowbound Hysteria; A First Snowtale
Snow flurries gently, causing the young to drive,
like aging octogenarians in a whiteout,
30, 40, 50 in a sixty-five.
Impromptu lanes of newly barren asphalt,
edged by ridges of snow, criss-cross painted lines
as vehicles vie for position in an erratic assault.
Striving for normalcy, I find myself stuck
behind idiots, jerks, despicable freaks.
Oh, why didn't I buy a Monster ...Expand for more
Truck?
Try and fail, try and fail, in a disjointed dance;
every attempt at passing cut off. As I come alongside,
minivans suddenly hit their gas, awakened from their trance.
My agile mind morphs my sporty little ride,
and giant tires with studs like spikes, churn up and over
until I emerge, through rubbled cars, on the other side.
Pedal to the metal my tires throw up a blizzard, leaving behind those who drive,
like aging octogenarians in a whiteout,
30, 40, 50 in a sixty-five.
