Don's Story
Those were not my best years I guess. I remember being sick with pneumonia for a long time in my senior year and had to repeat in 1949 to graduate as I missed so much schooling. Did join the service after graduation and did four years in Medical /Dental attached to the Marines for two and 1/2 yrs during Korean Conflict and ended up in Kwajalein and Pearl Harbor after being all over the Pacific for the remaining time.
Stayed in Hawaii after I got out of Navy and did the beach bum routine for two years while I went to the University of Hawaii and lived off my Goverment Subsistance. Finally went back to the states and got married which turned out four children and a divorce after 18 years. She died several years later. Retired at 62 and ran my own computer business for 20 years (10 of those while I was working for Johnson Controls) and finally sold out. Did go to the University of Cincinnati, Marquette and UW Milwaukee for what I needed along the way. Not very exciting but I did finally find my best friend John MacDonald after looking for him 50 years and we renewed our friendship until he died in 2002 of a heart attack.
Currently have two houses on a lake here in the great Northwoods of Wisconsin, play a lot of golf and do a lot of biking (the manual kind) . We go to Flordia Panhandle or Arizona in Feb/Mar every year to get out of the snow and cold for a while.
