Linda's Story
I keep trying to become a better person and to help others as much as someone (you know who you are) helped me. I believe in "passing it on."
As the oldest of nine children I had to be an example for all my younger siblings so I didn't get to do many of the things that they were allowed, gradually, to do. Can you imagine, I didn't even get to wear knee shorts until after I graduated from high school! By the time my youngest sister went to high school, my mother was wearing knee shorts--never, ever, shorter than that!
So, part of becoming a better person is becoming more well-rounded (and I don't mean weight-wise!). I occasionally get to dance a little--when computer stuff gives me time to spend doing other things. I've finally completed all the research and am now a member of the DAR. Still need to do work for First Families of SC.

nt and information security fields for 46 years before I retired in 2005.
My first husband, Elbert Porter, died of cancer when our son was less than two years old. He is now married and has a 9-year-old son.
My second husband died of pulmonary fibrosis after almost 45 years of marriage. Our daughter is married and has an 11-year-old son.
So, two children and two grandchildren and that's all unless I acquire some by other means.
I am a genealogist (official family historian), an advanced amateur photographer,a lapsed pianist, a writer (I have several articles published in addition to my Ph.D. dissertation.), a cook, a handicrafter, and I really know my way around hospitals and taking care of sick relatives.
I love to read ,to travel, my sisters, my brother and dear friends.
There's more to do now that I'm retired than ever before and there just isn't enough time to do half the things I want to.
