Laura R's Story
Well, I've traveled some places both spiritually, emotionally and physically since graduating in 72'. Let's see if I can do this in bullets without all of the boring details.
--Attended Morris Brown College from 9/72 to 12/72. Hung out in ATL until 1/74 when I returned to CVG. I enrolled in UC transferred to Edgecliff College and ultimately received my BS in Elementary Education from Xavier University. I accepted Jesus as my Savior in 74' and was filled with the Holy Spirit. I was a member of a christian Born Again community for a couple of years then joined New Life Temple church were I stayed until 1986. I returned to UC in 1993 where I obtained my Master in Social Work.
I married in 1980, had two beautiful children and divorced in 1994. I have remained happily single since that time. I have two adult children and two small grandchildren who are my life.
In 1998, after my mother passed away I left CVG for Southern CA where I worked as a Mental Health Social Worker until 2000 when I relocated t...Expand for more
o Grand Rapids, MI where I started my career with the Dept. of VA Medical Center (VAMC). I have continued with the VAMC; working in Dublin, GA from 2003 -. I transferred to the Atlanta VAMC in 2004 where I continue to serve.
I have enjoyed traveling the country, cruising both the Atlantic & Pacific. Meeting old friends, learning smooth Ballroom & Chicago Step dancing, going to plays and some outdoor activities are all things that I enjoy.
Madisonville has an annual neighborhood dance every year over the Christmas holidays and I attended a couple of years ago. It was wonderful meeting and seeing old childhood friends from the "block". I have always enjoyed attending my high school reunions; and just pray that the class of 72' will one day be able to successfully organize class events more regularly without the drama, power plays etc. that seem to be a barrier to our all getting together. There I said it. It is what it is.
All in all, I have had a good life and made few decisions that I regret.
